Totally open to ideas at this point.
We will make a header. I like the idea of a fixed header that stays in place as you scroll down. Less mouse movement required.
Nav buttons: Something simple running across the bottom of our header. Highlight style like http://laurengalanter.com/
Pages: All Films, About, Film Transfers, Job Status, Remix, Links, Map (down the road), Subscribe (maybe find a way to work this into the main page instead)
Container: Definitely a fixed-size box.
Buttons: Maybe we can make some custom buttons for the Quicktime Link, MPEG/Internet Archive Link, and the "Older" "Newer" post nav buttons. Open to ideas.
Content:
Georgia font. (bigger than what we have currently on our site)
Gray text.
White background.
Links: color:#286ea0 or #669933
or whatever looks good. I'm by no means a CSS expert.
Quotes examples:
Font size larger than post text but smaller than post title text.
I like these fat quote symbols http://valdez.tumblr.com/post/24153598
Again, we're open to ideas. The goal is good style and a nice distinction between our words and the stories from our contributors. Right now we're doing plain text mixed with italic and it looks weird.
Images in posts: We'd like to incorporate stills of the film boxes, the transfer process, maybe additional stills in the body of the post. We'd just like to make sure the CSS looks good (text not smacking right into pictures, etc.)
Video size/Main thumbnail size: I'm thinking 480 x 320. 640 is too big. 320 too small.
Video: We'd like to use Vimeo as our Flash host. We will also post a device-compatible Quicktime Movie. And some posts will include a link to the corresponding MPEG-2 to the Internet Archive.
Footer: Yes please.
ARCHIVE:
Simplicity is the key. We like what David Meade has started at http://www.davidmeade.com/episode-archive
If we could use that model but clean up the pop-up window, make it readable and clean. Maybe add a search box and a drop-down menu at the top of the page that would allow you to sort A-Z, by category, by date of film.
