This is the Roadmap for Show in a Box.

 

It is a high level overview for where Show in a Box is going from a development point of view.

 

Since this is a volunteer based project, it is hard to give hard forcasts for when things will get done.  (They tend to get done as the people involved with Show in a Box get time)  But this page tries to give a forcast of what is coming within the next 4 to 6 months.

 

NOTE: If you make changes to this Roadmap, please discuss your changes on the Show in a Box Mailing List.

Goals:

1.  Start the development of the Video Wrangler plugin (based on vPIP).

2.  Add SMIL support.

3.  Add DHTML popups showing summaries, that are shown when used hovers over thumbnails.

Change type of HTML code used for "embed code" Must Have Video Wrangler Should be <iframe> based.  Make the URL, that's in the "src" of the <iframe>, pretty, via mod_rewrite (done though WordPress hooks).  NOTE... the system must support revisioning of the pretty URL so that whatever URL the user has in their "mebed code" still works, even if the pretty URL style is chage. Add Popup DHTML Tooltips Must Have Related Videos, Recent Videos, Visual Archive Initial development is done for Related Videos, BUT the existing popup has problems on some sites.  Needs to be fixed. Other 2 plugins will be done once Related Videos is done. Also, there's been requests to change the look and positioning of the popup.

 Add permalink under the player when people embed

 Nice to Have Video Wrangler  when someone embeds my video, be great that there's link back to the video post. Can't expect the person to give proper credit.  Jay
play button on top of thumbnail Nice to Have Video Wrangler Allow people to have a Play button overlad on the thumbnail. Even better is to let me upload a custom image that could be overload as a play button. Ryanne, SIAB list peeps

Goals:

1.  Create master Show in a Box plugin.

2.  Further Develop Video Feeds plugin, based on user and QA feed back.

3.  Add back filling to the Related Videos plugin.

4.  Create Video Rerun plugin.

5.  Make sure database tables have indexes (if they don't exist already) for better performance and speed improvements.

6.  Create plugin to add support for Video Sitemaps.

7.  Continue with the development and bug fixes of the Video Archive plugin.

8.  Make Widgets, with video thumbnails, themable.
